Sungye Kim

Lead Educator

Hello, my name is Sungye Kim, a Junior from Northern California, and the co-founder of Bridge 2 Bucks. During my childhood, I barely had any exposure to economics and financial literacy in school. So, through this initiative, I want to bridge the financial literacy gap in Sonoma County and introduce basic economics to young students with fun, interactive in-class workshops. I love listening to music and going to the gym in my free time.  I hope this initiative will make financial literacy more prevalent not just in Sonoma County, but throughout California.

Meet Our Team - Journey to Financial Literacy

Our group of local high schoolers loves teaching kids about money. We work together to help our community learn and grow through fun lessons.

Kalen Barrisford

Community Outreach

Hi, I’m Kalen Barrisford, co-founder of Bridge 2 Bucks. I’m an incoming student at the University of California, Berkeley, planning to dual major in applied math and economics. I started this campaign because financial literacy is still overlooked, even though it shapes real decisions people make every day. Through Bridge 2 Bucks, I focus on creating engaging, easy-to-understand content that actually connects with students and helps them build real confidence with money. I care about financial education because everyone should have the tools to make smart decisions and take control of their future.

Jehan Staebell

Curriculum Developer

Hey, I'm Jehan! I'm a junior at MCHS, and I spend a lot of my free time listening to music, running, and playing the piano. I’ve been a part of the MCHS Investment Club for a year now, and in the future, I hope to pursue a major in aerospace engineering and a minor in accounting. I began working with Bricks to Bucks after becoming financially literate myself, which made me realize just how essential a skill it is and how impactful it can be for people to learn it earlier in life rather than later. I hope to inspire an interest in finance in others through this campaign, as well as to equip the next generation with the financial fundamentals they need.
